Sourcing Ethics

At Best in Beads, ethical sourcing isn't a marketing line — it's the foundation of how we do business.

Direct Relationships

We buy directly from lapidaries and small mining cooperatives in India, Brazil, Madagascar, Tanzania, and the United States. No anonymous middlemen. We've personally visited every primary supplier we work with.

Fair Compensation

We pay above-market rates to our cutting partners and pay 100% upfront on every order. This means our partners can invest in safer equipment, fair wages for their staff, and continuous quality improvement.

No Conflict Stones

We do not source from regions or operations associated with armed conflict, forced labor, or environmental abuse. Where Kimberley-Process certification applies, we require it. For colored gemstones we work only with verified small-scale or mid-tier suppliers.

Environmental Care

Natural gemstones are a finite resource. We prioritize partners who practice low-impact mining, water recycling, and tailings remediation. We avoid heat-treatment or chemical enhancements unless disclosed in the listing.

Transparency

Every strand we sell is traceable to its source region. Ask us where any stone came from — we'll tell you, and we'll show you the supplier paperwork on request.
